Goals & Objectives for the Upcoming Year
GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR
TRAINING
- Make calls to Middle and High school assistant principals who requested training at their schools. This needs to be done by June 1. Assignments: Harriet will call Centennial Middle, Southern Hills, Broomfield Heights, Monarch High and Centaurus. Leslie will call Nederland Middle and High, Boulder High. Anne will call Broomfield High and Arapahoe Ridge. Alicia will call Aspen Creek Middle.
- School Counselors--Katy will call
- Nurses--Katy
- Paraprofessionals-Kappy will call
- New principal cohort-Kathy will call Ellen Miller Brown
- Health teachers--Katy will determine and let Kathy know
- SCLs follow-up with a longer training-Anne will call
- Maybe the staff health coordinators (Bob Jameson in HR Benefits leads this group)
SUPPORTING GSAs
- Check in with each high school's GSA sponsor to see what they might need that we could assist them with. Perhaps attend a meeting if invited.
- Do a follow up training on skill building, etc. Perhaps during the Youth Leadership Institute
- Respond to requests for support from any student-initiated interest in middle school for a GSA.
- Explore options for supporting students who want to attend Creating Change conference in Jan. 2009
- Task force to accomplish this is Leslie, John, Lisa-maybe, Janis and Les. Janis is the lead.
PROMOTING CONFERENCES
- We can pay for some staff to attend these conferences:
- PFLAG conference in Boulder Sept. 19-21, 2008
- Creating Change in Denver Jan. 28 - Feb. 1, 2009
- Kappy will check with Lisa Collins about putting these on "course insite"
- Task force to develop application process through our website--Anne, Alicia and Les
NEW IDEAS
- Check to see what type of GLBTQ training LINKS and WEB leaders get--ask Lisa about this
- Jean will talk with Judy Skupa about menu for staff development next year
- Do a preassessment for groups before we do our training to determine their level of knowledge
- Develop a system (task list plus timeline) for presentations. Janis, Kappy and Anne will do this
- Refine our training/hone our facilitation skills
- Les will check to see if we can have a newsletter online
- Les will talk with CU personnel about giving us a schedule when they may want us to present in classrooms--so we can put them on our calendars.
- Develop a packet of handouts, PowerPoints, etc. to be used at training
- Kathy and Anne will write a proposal to present at the September PFLAG conference
